Best Free Porn Blockers in 2026 (and What's Actually Free)
The porn blockers you can use for $0: iPhone Screen Time, Android Private DNS and Cloudflare's free family DNS, with setup steps and honest limits.
Most “free porn blocker” apps are free to download and paid to actually block. The genuinely free blockers are mostly built into your phone or your internet connection, and they cover more than you’d expect. This guide covers what is really free, how to set each one up, and where paid blockers still earn their price.
What’s free vs what’s a trial
| Option | Free? | What you get | Works on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare family DNS | Yes, free | Adult-content and malware filtering | Android, routers, computers |

| SEVER | Tracking free; blocker Premium | App Shield and Site Shield (200,000+ sites) in Premium | iPhone, Android |
| BlockerX | Free download; subscription for all features | Site blocking, accountability, panic switch | Phones, computers, Chrome |
| Canopy | 7-day trial | Filtering and app blocking | Phones and computers |
Disclosure: SEVER is our product. We built SEVER. To be clear, its blocker is a paid Premium feature, so we list it as one.
1. Cloudflare family DNS (free)
DNS is the internet’s address book. Every app and browser asks a DNS server where a site lives before loading it. Cloudflare’s free family resolver answers “nowhere” for adult content and malware. Set it once and it covers every app on that connection.
Set it on your home router
- Open your router’s admin page. The address is usually printed on the router.
- Find the DNS settings, often under Internet, WAN or DHCP.
- Set the DNS servers to
1.1.1.3and1.0.0.3. - Save and restart the router. Every device on your Wi-Fi is now filtered.
Limit: it only applies on that Wi-Fi. A phone on mobile data, or with its own DNS setting, isn’t covered. That’s what the next two steps fix.
2. Android Private DNS (free)
Set it on Android
- Open Settings → Network & internet → Private DNS. If you can’t find it, search Settings for “Private DNS”. Menus vary by phone maker.
- Choose Private DNS provider hostname.
- Enter
family.cloudflare-dns.com. - Tap Save. The filter now applies on Wi-Fi and mobile data.
Limit: anyone with the phone can switch it back to Automatic. More on locking it down in our Android porn blocker guide.
3. iPhone Screen Time (free)
iPhone has an adult-website filter built into Screen Time. In Settings → Screen Time, turn on content restrictions and set web content to Limit Adult Websites. You can also add specific sites to always block. Apple renamed some of these menus in iOS 27, so the exact path depends on your version.
The important part is the passcode. Set a Screen Time passcode and let someone you trust choose it. Without that, the filter is one tap from off. Full walkthrough in our iPhone porn blocker guide.
4. SEVER (blocker in Premium)
- Best for
- Free habit tracking now; stronger blocking when you need it
- Access
- Free Core forever; App Shield and Site Shield in Premium
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
We’d rather be straight about this: SEVER’s blocker is a paid feature. What’s free is everything around it: the streak, daily check-ins and relapse logs. Run SEVER’s Free Core alongside the free blockers above, and your logs will tell you whether the free setup is enough. If one app or late-night browser keeps getting through, that’s when App Shield and Site Shield are worth paying for.
Strengths
- Free streak, check-ins and relapse logs show which door you use
- Premium Site Shield blocks 200,000+ adult sites; App Shield blocks chosen apps
- Guided setup for Cloudflare family DNS on Android (Premium)
Trade-offs
- The blocker itself is not free
Available on: SEVER on the App Store · SEVER on Google Play
5. BlockerX (free download)
- Best for
- Trying a dedicated blocker before paying
- Access
- Free download; Premium unlocks full features; 1-day trial on its site
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, Chrome extension
BlockerX is free to download from the app stores, with Premium needed for full features. Its official site lists a 1-day trial plus annual and lifetime plans, and its App Store listing says a subscription is required for all features. Treat it as a paid blocker you can test briefly.
Strengths
- Covers computers and Chrome as well as phones
- Custom lists, allowlist mode and safe search
Trade-offs
- A subscription is required for all features
- No ongoing free plan described
The best free setup, in order
- Router:
1.1.1.3/1.0.0.3covers every device at home. - Phone: Private DNS (Android) or Screen Time (iPhone) covers you away from home.
- Passcode: someone else holds it.
- Tracker: a free streak and relapse log shows what’s still getting through.
When free isn’t enough
Free blockers are basic lists you can switch off. Paid blockers add app blocking, custom rules, removal protection and accountability. If you keep switching the free filter off, the problem is friction, and a stronger blocker or a person holding the passcode is worth it. Compare the options in the best porn blocker apps.
Methodology
Cloudflare’s addresses and pricing come from Cloudflare’s own documentation and announcement. Android steps come from Google’s Android help, and iPhone guidance from Apple Support (October 2026). App details come from official sites and store listings. No filter blocks everything, and none of these claims to.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best free porn blocker?
For most people, a free DNS filter (Cloudflare's 1.1.1.3 family resolver) plus your phone's built-in controls. They cost nothing and cover more apps and browsers than most free app tiers.
Is SEVER's porn blocker free?
No. SEVER's App Shield and Site Shield are part of the optional Premium plan. The free plan includes streak tracking, check-ins and relapse logs, which pair well with the free blockers in this guide.
Do free porn blockers work on every browser?
DNS filtering works across browsers and apps on the device or network where it's set. iPhone's Screen Time web filter is built into the system. App-based blockers often cover only supported browsers.
Can I block porn on my home Wi-Fi for free?
Yes. Set your router's DNS servers to 1.1.1.3 and 1.0.0.3 (Cloudflare for Families). Every device on that Wi-Fi then gets adult-content filtering, until it switches to mobile data or its own DNS.
