SEVER vs BlockerX (2026): Recovery App vs Dedicated Blocker

SEVER vs BlockerX: a quit porn app with on-device blocking versus a cross-device, VPN-based porn blocker. Platforms, free access, accountability and privacy.

BlockerX and SEVER overlap on blocking, but they’re built for different jobs. BlockerX is a dedicated blocker that covers phones, computers and Chrome, with optional accountability. SEVER is a quit-porn app with blocking built in, plus a free streak, check-ins and tools for the urge itself. If blocking is the whole problem, look at BlockerX. If blocking is one part of quitting, look at SEVER.

Disclosure: SEVER is our product. We built SEVER. BlockerX is described from its official website, App Store listing and Chrome extension listing, checked October 24, 2026.

Where BlockerX is stronger

  • Computers and Chrome. BlockerX has Windows and macOS apps and a Chrome extension. SEVER is phone-only.
  • Removal resistance. Its Premium plan lists uninstall protection on Android and uninstall notifications on iOS.
  • Accountability partner. Your partner gets daily browsing reports; SEVER has no partner feature.
  • A panic switch that cuts all internet access during an urge.
  • Allowlist-only mode for locking browsing down to approved sites.

Where SEVER is stronger

  • Free recovery tools. The streak, check-ins and relapse logs cost nothing. BlockerX’s listing says its features need a subscription.
  • No VPN on iPhone. SEVER uses Apple’s Screen Time for apps and a Safari content blocker for sites, both on your device, so your traffic isn’t routed through a VPN.
  • A plan for after the block. A blocker stops the site; the urge is still there. Fight the Urge and the year-long Reset Plan deal with that part.
  • Private by default. Nothing is reported to anyone. BlockerX’s partner feature shares daily browsing reports, which is useful if you want it and a privacy cost if you don’t.

Price and access

BlockerX is free to download; full features need Premium, and its site lists annual and lifetime plans with a 1-day trial. Prices differ between its website and the App Store, so check before buying. SEVER’s blocker is part of Premium too (monthly, yearly or lifetime), but the daily recovery system around it is free.

Who should choose which

  • Pick BlockerX if you relapse on a laptop or in Chrome, or you want a partner notified.
  • Pick SEVER if it’s mostly your phone, you want app blocking on iPhone, or you want recovery tools with the blocker.
  • Both is a reasonable setup: BlockerX on the computer, SEVER on the phone.
